Our Apparatus

The GTMAA hs operated three different canteen apparatus in its service to Toronto and area firefighters since 1975. Below are some photos of our fleet, past and present.

The original canteen donated secnd-hand to the Scarborough Fire Dept. and operated on their behalf by the Metro Toronto Multiple Alarm Association (the predecessor of GTMAA).

In the 1980's the Scarborough Fire Department donated a used GMC mechanical van to MTMAA for use as a canteen. MTMAA members, led by Bob Viel, donated hundreds of man-hours to remodel the van for canteen use. This vehicle was known as Support Unit #1. John Kaye photo.

Another view of Support Unit #1. For many years, this vehicle was stationed at Scarborough Firehall #6 on Birchmount Rd.

Our present apparatus, Support 7, was purchased new by the Scarborough Fire Department prior to fire dept. amalgamation. It was numbered Support 7 because it originally ran out of Scarborough Firehall 7 at 740 Markham Rd. Support 7 now runs out of Toronto Firehall 223 at 116 Dorset Rd.
